To start this assignment I was asked to design a sweet packet that could hold 200g of sweets for a target audience I was to choose my self. For this task, I had chosen to create my product packaging designs inspired by Disneys hades character from the very well known movie Hercules. I also chose to create my sweets targeted to young teenagers. After deciding to advertise my sweet packet to young teenagers I began to research sweets that appealed to my chosen audience. My research showed that young teenagers often buy sweets that have flavours or effects that could be considered to be a challenge, such as extreme sour flavour, fiery spicy flavour or flavours that may be unpleasant. These types of sweets can be seen in the mood board I placed in the top right-hand corner of this page. After learning this I chose to create a sweet packet for the new flavoured spicey skittles. Once I had chosen to do this I then researched unique packaging ideas by creating the mood board that has been placed in the bottom right corner of this page. The mood board in the bottom left of this page shows many different versions of Disneys character hades from the greek mythology based film Hercules. I chose to use this character to represent my sweets due to the fact that this character has two very different sides of his personality one of which is very calm and charismatic. This side of hades is represented through the blue colour of his hair and face, while the other is very angry and has bright red hair and skin and I felt that these two personalities could well represent the two new flavours that the skittles brand had recently released. Which are cool tropical flavoured skittles that contain blue, yellow and purple skittles, all colours of which feature in the calm version of hades and spicey flavour of which share the same colours used in the angry version of hades that are red, orange and yellow. This image shows the various designs that I had created to use for my sweet packet. All of which have been designed inspired by traditional greek typefaces and the original typeface from the film Hercules. The final outcome of this experimentation can be seen in the bottom right corner of this page. This page shows the development of my work in the stages these steps were carried out. The images in the top left of this page are rough drawings I had designed while beginning to think about the shape and designs that I might have wanted to use for my packaging. For this cone shape, I planned on dividing the interior of this packaging by using a cardboard divider that would evenly segregate the two different flavours of my chosen sweet. I also planned on placing two small openings on the top of my cone shape on either side, that could be easily opened with the push of a finger. Effectively allowing my customer to open both sides of this cone and eat the different flavours separately. I also believed that by using this cone shape for my packaging would allow the imagery placed on the outside of this cone packet to be seen from all angles of which may show a full view of the two different designs of my hades design or potential showing both sides at once of which allows my target audience to grasp the concept of this sweet packet from all angles potentially increasing the probability of selling this sweet packet as having this product at one correct angle will not be necessary for making a sale. The black and white drawing beside this image was the drawing I had created to allow my self to see the main facial features of hades. After drawing this image I then scanned it and used it as a loose guide while creating my own interpretation of these characters, doing so by exaggerating, elongating and pointing his main characteristics. I also amplified the wave effect of this character’s hair turning this motion into full-bodied curls and waves that can be seen folding into each other in a constant flow like pattern resembling an icecream an effect I have designed in order to express the fact that this image is advertising a product with a high sugar content. Once I was happy with these designs I then added a very long neck to my characters in order to make them look more monstrous. After some consideration, I chose to present my package in this trapezoid shape. I did this as i felt that this shape looks more appealing while also allowing more space for sweets. As well as this I felt that having a shape with more faces would provide more surface area for images and cause my imagery to look less compacted making my pictures look clearer and more professional. These images show the final outcomes of this project.
This is an image that shows the various mood boards that I had made while undergoing research for this task. These mood boards show images of different recipe layouts designs, ideal typefaces and different infographic style choices. This page shows the many different layout designs that I created while thinking about style and composition. This page shows the many different design sketches I created while thinking about style options. The images on the left of this page show my initial rough sketches that I had drawn while thinking about how I wanted my ingredients to look like. While the dawings in the centre of this page show the different styles in which I could have created my image of a Devonshire scone. The final image on the right of this page is an image of a Devonshire scone sat on top of a stack of teacups. I drew this as I thought that this design had the potential to feature on the front of my infographic. This image shows the final outcomes for my Devonshire scone image, ingredients and cooking utensils. while the two images that feature in the bottom right-hand corner of this page show the two design layouts that I had experimented with. This is an image of my final infographic design for my scone recipe. For this design, I have created a 1920s look doing so by incorporating a pink striped pattern of which was a well-known pattern that was used in bedrooms during this period in time. For this topic, I was asked to create a magazine that possessed one front cover and two double-page spreads that showed two articles. The topic of this magazine was optional. I had chosen to design my magazine based on the British army and the ways in which the army is now having to accept people of all colours and sexual orientations.
This image shows the many different designs I had made. While making these headings I set out to create designs that expressed the meanings belonging to these heading doing so through the use of colour, pattern, style and composition.
This is an image of a collage I had created for one of my chosen articles called “Changing the face of the British army”.I expressed this article by using an image of a black model wearing the well-known hat and moustache originally belonging to Field Marshal Lord Kitchene from the most famous ww1 British propaganda poster that was created in 1914. I have done this in order to illustrate the fact that all races and women are now allowed to join the army free from ridicule. I also placed the LGBT flag on the cheeks of the model to represent the fact that the British army is also allowing persons from the LGBT community to join the army and all the qualities that this person possess could now be considered to be the new face of the British army.
This page shows the final outcomes of my headings that can be seen taking place on the left-hand side of this image. While the images on the right-hand side of this page shows the final outcome of my main front cover and the front covers belonging to my two double-page spread articles that had been designed to express the meaning belonging to the articles that I had chosen to use for these pages. This image shows the final outcomes belonging to both of my double-page spreads. The image on the top of this page is the final outcome of my first articles double-page spread. I placed the front cover of my article occupying the entire left-hand side of this page as I believed that this would cause my college to have a larger impact on my viewer. I had also placed two small black rectangles that stretch across the back of this page to add aesthetic appeal while also slightly resembling the striped background found on police booking photos that I have included to express the fact that the minority groups I had addressed through the use of my collage were once prosecuted. I also placed the heading of this magazine at the base of this page due to the way in which the triangular shape I had placed behind the face of the college draws the viewers eye down the page. This heading stretches cross to the next page in order to politely guide the viewer’s eye across to the next page where I influence my viewer to start reading the information on this page by catching their attention through the use of the large letter A, that I have designed in this bright red colour to stands out. For the second double-page spread, I have again designed my double page spread having the heading and cover photo placed on the whole of the left page of my double spread. This was done in order to create a larger impact on my viewer. I also felt that my imagery and heading expresses the contents of this article extremely well and by having this image at this large size helped to inform the viewer of the subject matter of this article before having read the information. After the viewer has studied the contents of this page I then draw their attention to the text through the use of the red initial.

This is a slide show that features images of a magazine mock-up that i had created to present my final designs.
For this task, I was asked to create a mixed media collage that was based around any subject matter that i wanted. I chose to create a collage that expressed the experiences of having mental health conditions.
This page shows the very rough sketched that I created while thinking about how I wanted my collage to look. While the images on the right show the photos I had taken of pages in books that possessed imagery that I felt had the potential to feature in my final collage. The images on the right-hand side of this page also shows the colour full textures that I had made using watercolours and a sun design that i had drawn using coloured pencils.
This image shows the steps I took to create my final mixed media collage. The image on the very left of this page shows the final line drawing design i had created for this collage. while the image in the centre of this page shows the way that I used the watercolour texture that I had made earlier. The final picture of this page shows the final outcome of my collage. This collage was created using many different art mediums such as ink pen, photography, watercolour, coloured pencil and photoshop.
This is an image of some images I created while designing a travel guide, infographic that I made to guide people who wish to travel to spiritual places in Japan.
this image shows the drawings and patterns that I had made to place on the front of children’s T-shirts. these designs were inspired by very old cartoon characters and children’s nursery rhymes.
this is an image of the final outcomes of my shirt designs.
This is an image of a skateboard mockup I was asked to create. I created the skull-like donut on this skateboard using illustrator and I created the sprinkles that can be seen scattered across the deck of this skateboard by hand that i scanned in and edited using photoshop.
This is a design that I created after given a task that required me to create an interesting and imaginative design. while creating this design I took influence from very popular tattoo designs, as I felt that by doing this would result in a design that possessed a more current style that would appeal to a younger generation.
